Hunger is an enemy of humanity! The Lord Jesus Christ took time to address that need:

Jesus called his disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” — Matthew 15:32

Praise the Lord that when the need is great, God is even greater!

Feed the Hungry Partners with The Joseph Project since 2002

Our mission is centred on restoring dignity, creating opportunity and building sustainable futures for Orphans and Vulnerable Children and families. The Joseph Project is building an integrated child development model focused on four key objectives: education, feeding, shelter, and health.

Elna’s late husband, Ephiel Mukamuri, was close friends with Stefan Radelich after meeting at a filling station in 2002 by divine orchestration.

In 2004, there was a very critical hunger situation in Zimbabwe that Ephiel communicated to Stefan. Stefan talked to Steve Sumrall, who then organised for them to have their first ever food container from Feed The Hungry that same year. The Mukamuri’s founded The Joseph Foundation shortly after and have continued a partnership with Feed the Hungry since.

The feeding program has made their ministry very relevant in Zimbabwe and has allowed them to reach almost 16,000 children. This program has validated Elna’s testimony in the community; allowing her to be a witness for Christ as she blesses people.

There are also fifteen students that are in the Sumrall Scholarship program in Zimbabwe. These students have their school and books fees paid through Feed the Hungry, keeping them in school instead of working for money.

Elna’s long-term goal is to influence all mankind to believe in Jesus Christ and live with faith in Him. They want to evangelise and make disciples for Jesus. They also want to establish educational institutions to help with their vision, farming centers to grow food locally, and Bible Training institutions.

Saving of children’s lives through making food available to them has been very impactful to Elna in her ministry. Without the timely intervention, those lives would have been lost. Long lasting economic hardships, persistent droughts, political instability are the main things Elna and her ministry constantly face.

If she had the privilege to meet Dr. Lester Sumrall, Elna would thank him for teaching and living a life of faith. She would let him know the impact that hours of listening to his teachings has had on her and her husband, Ephiel. She would thank him most for making the Gospel so practical through Feed The Hungry. Because of his obedience and Feed the Hungry, her ministry is able to share the Gospel.
